Cults are hard to get out of. I think many of us had very difficult times leaving because we had it pounded into our heads that everyone and everything outside the Jws was Satanic. You're told not to question things, your faith is weak if you doubt. Personal decisions are made on Wrathtower articles, so the decision in affect has already been made. Going againt the spirit of the organization brings rebuke, sometimes removal. They convince you that we need them 5 times a week, to live forever, not to mention they train you to study it on your own at home. Can't give an opprotunity for the devil you know. Vacations without a meeting is an implied sin. When can a person ever breath without their influence?

JWs - What Proves That They're a Cult
by Black Man ini think one major point that proves that the jw's are a cult is that you can't leave without being stigmatized.
all you have to do for other religions is take your name of the membership log or just resign.
for jw's you can't leave unless you're df'd or da'd.

I gave up a $60,000 starting pay job when I graduated college, to pioneer, in 1984. The new world was just around the corner. I made $14,000 that year. Hey Watchtower, you sat on your ass in New York getting a free ride on people like me. Not anymore, and in the long run I believe that the word is getting out that you really are the same as the people you condemn, you can't hide from the truth anymore.

Oh, the inconsistency of it all!!
by ozziepost inover the years it has become clear that controlling bodies seeking to regulate their members are prone to inconsistencies, even contradictions.. .
the borg is not immune from that.. .
why is it that wedding rings are allowed, but confetti isn't?.

Why is a brother not disfellowshipped for child abuse, when he breaks 50 bones in his childrens body? He did jail time for this, yet stays a member of the JWs? Yet, a sister is disfellowshipped for lying about her friend seeing a worldly man?

Why is a 15 year girl old disfellowshipped for having sex with a 33 year old brother. Where I live that is considered rape, not fornication.

Why is a trauma to move out from an organisation like the j.w ?
by arancia ini was converted j.w about 15years ago but last year i got to know what sort of people they were in reality.
my husband and i made the decision in five minutes.within few days we sent a very brief letter that stated in few words that we were living the oganisation disgusted for what we so in tv on channel 9 the previous sunday.
we reach very fast that decision because we freely and voluntarily got in ,therefore with the same spirit got out.

Because they (lie) tell you God is going to destroy you if you do. The longer you're around that, the harder to break free. The other lie is that you can't be happy without them. Wrong!!!!!! I will admit the transition was very difficult, but the thought of going back to a bunch of control freaks makes me crindge. Glad to be out and glad to be free!!!!!!

Ever come close to blows with another witness?
by Dimples ini once went to a baby shower for a sister and planned on having a good time.
there were only sisters there and some brought their children.
the shower was held at a community center clubhouse.

#11 other We had 2 congregations using the same hall. One had a surplus of about $20,000, the other was almost broke. All expenses for everything was spilt down the middle. I use to think how unloving of the rich one not to pay a little more and take some of the burden off of your sister cong. I heard the accounts report in both. Rich--thank-you for your loving support, poor--always reminded of up coming expenses.

What's the most ridiculous thing you were ever counselled on?
by micheal inone of the cornerstones of jw's is counsel.
they just love to give counsel and many times they will literally make things up just for the sake of counsel.
i was once counselled for joking around too much.

My wife was counselled not to wear a sun dress because it showed to much of her shoulders.

An elder just bullshitted about his truck being hit, where I was working. No one was around, so no one could see. Fear of man is really what they have, doesn't he know god can see all things?

I was counselled about talking to a single sister in the parking lot after a meeting. It was light out and several people were in the parking lot. I was single at the time and I guess that was bad? I was told we needed to get married so people will stop talking(gossipping). Controlling jerks!!!!!
